The month of July has been dedicated to my family, and I have loved every minute of it. But today, when I least expected this, I received an email from etsy that one of the lampshades I had listed was sold. I was going to stay on here alone in Mendocino for another week with my three cats simply to get back to my creative work, but now I need to leave with my husband on Tuesday in order to get the lampshade mailed to the buyer. What a nice problem to have. Now I need to make more shades!!
This was the shade using the old French wallpaper. I feel like opening a bottle of Veuve Clicquot!

What a beautiful lampshade and my favorite Champagne!
: )
Wish you were here with me to share a glass!
Oh congratulations! This is exciting!
Thank, Deb. I could use a little jump-start right now as this seems to provide!
terrific!
I guess the first sale warrants a little excitement.
Well done!
I shall look forward to seeing more creations.
I need to get back to Portland and get back to work! Thank you. Are you still studying and taking classes or are you on a break?
The shade and the fabric are exquisite. As an average, how much time does it take you and how long did you work at it to get such perfection. The one shade that I did looks embarrassing.
Such perfection!
I have to say that I have been making these shades for at least ten years now, so I have had a lot of practice. The shades that are made of styrene (plastic with a sticky back) are faster to make, and depending on the size and the materials used (fabric or paper), one can be done in 3 1/2 to five hours. The sewn shades that I love doing also are much more labor intensive and take 1 1/2 to 2 days to complete because of all the wire wrapping, fitting, and hand sewing. I have not offered any of these for sale because I would have to price them fairly high, and I am not sure anyone would be willing to pay for this extra work. Anyway, keep trying and you will reach perfection as you have done with your handbags. I do have a website for the lampshade supplies if you are interested.
Congratulations Phyllis, always such wonderful shades, I love the paper ones too, that wall paper is gorgeous. Veuve Clicquot, mmmm, a perfect way to celebrate… cheers! xx
I think there might always be a perfect excuse for Veuve Clicquot!
