Tonight I started thinking about my blog and my lack of posting on a regular basis. This old French textile seems a fitting representation for my mind lately…meandering paths. I have spent the week painting two more bookshelves, framing some pictures, trying to get the garden ready for winter. But my mind has been traveling many different paths sorting through stored up ideas and memories and yes, some losses too. I am getting to a new path, working very hard to bring something to balance and reason. It is all good, but sometimes a little enervating.
I saw a beautiful ballet tonight. The colors, costumes, and discipline of the dances always inspire me. It all looks so easy on stage, but in reality I know each movement is practiced over and over again amidst such dedication and perseverance and dexterity.

Sometimes color is everything. It might be all we need for the moment…color and enchantment.
I think that that is all I have ever needed (color and enchantment). One cannot be separated from the other for me. And the ballet, were practice is so essential, is entrenched with color. But any art form, because of the repetitiveness of practice, becomes colorful, don’t you think?
The fabrics are lovely. Where do you store all these lovelies?
I’d add texture to color and enchantment. Meandering can be a good thing, although it might not seem like it in the moment. I love that top fabric.
I’ve been meandering lately too and sometimes color is all you need and texture too!
Hi Phyllis, it has been far too long since my last visit to your wonderful blog, I think my paths have been meandering like mad of late! I like the way you have drawn this comparison between your sense of your journey through life, and the ornate and sinuous design of the gorgeous French fabric. I am hoping that my recent meanderings have brought me back to a place where I can focus a little more on more interesting and fulfilling things than I have of late! But i wouldn’t be here if it wasn’t for the meanderings, I think we need times like that to clear our minds and hearts, as well as beginning the walk down a few paths that aren’t quite right. Lois xx
PS, Charleston part 3 to come in a day or two, I promise this time!
i think meandering is like walking but with a lot of side trips. richer somehow. and you most certainly always get there eventually. or who cares really?
beautiful fabrics.
Phyllis are you ok?
This is a perfect example of how people from different parts of the country can feel connected to people we have never met except through cyber space.
I hope you are just involved with wedding plans and having a wonderful time.
