As time moved forward, my stitches became steady and my presence more secure, Sam my oldest cat decided that I might, in fact, be in my space more than a half hour. As I settled into a comforting rhythm so did he, and in our own unique and silent communicative manner we became connected and close again. I think this is what might be called bliss.

I’d say so. When I’m inside the dogs hate it when I don’t settle in one place. Hazel the cat loves it when I settle in particular places. Here she comes right now.
It is funny, but I think most animals would prefer their owner to be lazy and sedentary, so their is always a lap or warm body to snuggle up against.
I think you are right. It is very soothing to me as well. My Willie Dixon see me at the desk, he comes over and yells at me to pick him up. The mandatory petting and then he settles in for a nap. but it is always on what I am working on. How do they know that?
A perfect story. And they do seem to know that they have to be on the current project or they simply are not happy. They also seem to be there when the bed gets made. Uncanny.
there’s nothing like a buddy in the studio with you—and anyone who ever said cats have no personality has none himself!
I completely agree! Cats have the best personalities.
My cat has been walking with me and the dogs too. She can be fast asleep in a bedroom, but she hears the jingle jangle of the dog collars as I put them on the excited pooches. She comes wandering out, stretches, yawns, then joins the group. Stephanie used to get mad if I closed the door before the cat got out with us….only because she had to get up and let the cat out herself. But I have noticed that the cat isn’t tardy anymore. I keep meaning to take a picture of us, but just holding onto the leashes is a challenge sometimes!
I would love to see a picture of that!! What a very sweet story. Cats do not get nearly enough credit. I think they are the best companions, and I do love dogs too.
sam seems very sympathetic to your bliss.
Sam was rescued after being burned in a fire as a kitten, so I think any moments that are quiet and safe for him speak bliss.
What a beautiful cat and I enjoyed seeing photos of him too!

sam looks like he is right where he should be-in the middle of whatever is going on!
