I am leaving Mendocino early in the morning and going back to Portland. I should be home by 7PM. I spent some of today working on another quilt that I will show at another time. I also found another small quilt that I had made in the mid-80′s that would be good to embellish.

I guess when I return the blackberries along the headlands will be eaten by the birds, humans, or withering on the branches. Many have a ways to go before they are ripe.

This photo was taken a few weeks ago in Mendocino, and as I was looking at the moon tonight and the one in this picture, I thought they were remarkably close in appearance. The sky is clear tonight, no fog, but I can still hear the fog horn (sound buoy) in the ocean. It would be a perfect night for a walk through town and a glass of wine at the nearby hotel. But morning will come early, and I have a long drive ahead of me tomorrow. Pleasant dreams under an enchanting moon.
Don’t you love that word, enchantment. Yes, the moon was very similar to your photo. I have the BottleBrush bush trimmed so I can see out my window at night. The window is a high one and I don’t have any curtains or shades on it. I like to watch the moon. It was clear here and the moon was indeed lovely.
Do you like driving in the early morning? I have always been reminded of Edward Hopper’s Night Hawks painting, when I have been driving in the early morning. I like to think I am the only one awake and it feels special.
