I studied the words around the dots and decided one definitely had to go, “Reflection in a dot”. Maybe it was the light lavender color of the thread, but it seemed not to fit. It was an eyesore. So in its place I had to go larger with the circle and then proceeded to applique the smaller one on top. I think now the outer circle needs some embellishment, maybe some spokes going outward.

This is a textile that I acquired from a textile dealer in one of my travels or hunts. I purchased what little there was and every time I use it, I cringe a little because it is in scarce supply and I love it. It is linen, my favorite fabric since I can remember. The design is quirky, something I love, and the colors so soft and lovely. Truly, it is a work of art according to my particular standard. I tend to like things that are a little “off” in terms of design and color sometimes. The dot below the lavender arrow or point is cut from this fabric.

The large velvet dots still have the words around them. I just realized I cannot remove the wording without redoing the area because the letters will be there as a shadow forever. What if I put some gauzy fabric over them so the words were more subliminal. Just a thought.
Or maybe an outer ring placed around the dot? If there is room? I’m wondering if covering it with something sheer might make it a little fussy?
I do like the dots on this quilt. It makes it interesting.
Just realized that the colors of my latest dye experiments are some of the same colors as this quilt.
The linen fabric looks very Egyptian, as if it should be on the walls of a tomb, and maybe I should be floating on the Nile with my hand trailing in the water with nothing else to do but enjoy. I get carried away! I like the fabric as well. Are you going to use a lily pad on your quilt?
i do like the idea of a reflection in a dot though….
thanks for you lovely comments on my blog. I just spent a delicious time visiting with you via cyberspace and enjoyed it truly.
but gauze around the dot will be like fog on the beach, not fussy at all. i like the colors of the quilt too, and i like quirky fabric prints.
I love this combination of colors and the dots make everything so special…
