Yesterday morning after my walk I rushed off to a local fabric sale to purchase some fabrics for table covers for the wedding we are planning. (Please forgive me for a new fabric purchase. I am torn, but it is a wedding by design). By the time I arrived home, took photos to send my daughter and did swatches and showered, it was time to meet a friend for an ambling walk and visit. Today I had enough time to get my table cleared away to work and then decide what piece to dot. I have decided it will be a quilt I made many years ago. It seems the perfect place to start. Given the fragmentation of my life these days, I think this might be manageable…adding a dot or two to a piece that is already formed.

Lines, points, fading colors…somewhere there must be a calling for some round shapes, the circle that completes the line, the line that connects the reach for balance, fluidity, wholeness, calm. Bubbles that can float without popping. Moonbeams that promise mystery and dreams. A halo over my head….dots.
So after all this sorting and searching I came to the conclusion that I want to be a little outrageous in my designs, not so safe or predictable.

Color combination is essentially the spark that gives a design its edge. I love the colors of this coat by Poiret. They are so off that they sing and work in a very exciting way.
fabulous coat! oh my.
Love the colors of the jacket, and oh the texture…
Very curious to see where your circles/dots appear.
Such a wonderful surprise this morning to see a textile post on your blog. Welcome back!
I can see you in that wrap. So wonderful, the colors are so subtle and invasive to dreams.
A fabric sale of any sort can get my blood pressure up with exictment. The anticipation and the dreams it all conjures up. Lucky you.
When I need that hit, I go to the Fashion Institute’s Scholarship Store. They have fabric donated by the fashion industries that surround them. Oh what fun I have. I have met like souls there that have to hold themselves back and not grab all of the goodies.
It does sound like you have been having breakthoughs of consciousness and climbing heights!
That quilt is the perfect palette for embellishing. I am having fun {thinking about} pulling out something old and adding a bit of new to it too.
And what perfect table cover prints you picked…say that one fast….those fabrics are so romantic! If I were to be in charge of table covers, I would probably pick something wild and crazy, more rock ‘n roll than romance…..so good thing I am not in charge!
I like the fabrics for table covers…right up my alley.
How much fun to embellish an already made quilt…have fun.
The coat is wonderful…which reminds me, I have two quilted coats…well one quilted and one pieced…I must look for them.
