I often will awaken and ponder this door. It is old and rustic in design, but I think it is the favorite door in my life. It has a certain simplicity yet strength that I don’t see in the other doors of my life. In a way, it represents me, or the person I would like to be on a consistent basis, honest, solid, and willing to be open to new ideas…to be opened.
“Cautious, careful people, always casting about to preserve their reputation and social standing, never can bring about a reform. Those who really are in earnest must be willing to be anything or nothing in the world’s estimation, and publicly and privately in season and out, avow their sympathies with despised and persecuted ideas and their advocates, and bear the consequences.”
Susan B. Anthony
I recently read this quote and it struck a chord. A closed door is a good place to start. I am always trying to pry it open just a little bit further…an inch, a mile, a moment.
I have always admired her but when I think of the courage it would take on an ongoing basis, I don’t know if I could do it actively. Maybe as an every now and then perhaps. But consistently is breathtaking!
I think that it takes courage to everyday take up the mantle of one’s responsibilities and that is enough for me.
i suppose it depends on what kind of reform is the goal. preserving a soical standing is sometimes a cover for the most radical thinking. just a thought.
That’s an interesting quote. Not sure that I agree completely. I do know doors were made to be opened and sometimes to be shut.
I love your door. Especially the little piece nailed on underneath the handle…sort of like it has been mended.
Interesting quote. Something to ponder.

I can fall in love with a door too. Maybe it is about crossing a threshold, or wanting to.
Lovely image.

The door is beautiful. I loved the Susan B. Anthony quote something I needed to read in my life of change. Best wishes and may all doors open to you.
