I feel a little hesitant to post about a place instead of something cloth related, but I will soon be leaving this unique coastal town and heading back to Oregon. This statue sits on top of the Mendocino Masonic Temple. The title is “Time and the Maiden”. Many call it “The Grim Reaper.” It was carved from a single redwood log by Erick Albertson in 1866.

Today was a non-sewing day. I spent the entire day in the garden since the weather was remarkably clear and sunny. As the day was ending, I walked a few blocks to take a photo of this statue against an increasingly dark, threatening sky to the east. When I knew the sun was about to set, I ventured down to the ocean and took a picture of the sunset. The sun was going down behind a bank of clouds and fog although they look like mountains. Tomorrow I am back to my fabric and projects.

When the sun sets and I am the only one around, I always feel that the sun is doing this for me. The beauty and magnitude are a major part for me.
I loved the photos. They are beautiful. The sculpture on the top of the building was beautiful and must be even lovelier in person. I am glad you enjoyed your trip and have a wonderful safe trip home.
