MT Whitney trail camp at sunrise, Southern Sierra Mountains, California
Today I spent a good portion of it waiting for my husband to finish a medical test. I usually bring some knitting, one or two books to read, and a bag of almonds. I knitted a few rows and then took out one of the books, How Much Joy Can You Stand? It seemed a fitting title to bolster my day, but it is a great book about igniting personal creativity by Suzanne Falter-Barnes. I have read it once already, but thought I would review some of it while I waited. Here is one of many great quotes:
“Every unpursued dream leaves the world a tiny bit paler and life a little less rich. Every untold story means one fewer lesson passed on to someone else. Every abandoned idea means one more strike against hope.
“A fire in the belly is a champion for the ridiculous. It keeps you going day after day, stroke after stroke, step after step. You have to keep going in order to honor yourself. The fire gives you the courage to fly in the face of a world that values products more than people and the bottom line more than somebody’s tender dreams.”
Dream: To make it to the summit of MT Whitney close to my 60th birthday (after two failed attempts in the last three years due to weather and later a broken hand.)
Dream: To take my vision of fabric sculpture to fruition, to give a voice to the fire in my belly, to heed the song, the never-ending song.
go for it!
What an aspiration! Hold tight. It will happen.
You’ll do it!
Great photo. Great blog post and a great way to put your goals out there in the universe. You will do it and I will love the photos after you do.
I love Susan Falter Barnes I get her joy newsletter. Such a positive force.
I did not know that she had a newsletter. I would love to have the link. Well, if I make it to the top and the weather holds, it will be a nice view.
This is the year- I can feel it. Keep sending out positive thoughts and visions.
Yes! This is the year. Great visions and positive thoughts….well, that is essential.
