While cleaning out a closet in my space yesterday I uncovered two unfinished projects. This vest I purchased a few years ago and liked the rough edges as well as the way it was divided into geometric shapes. I decided to fill it in with old trims as well as new and old pieces of fabric. I had forgotten about this, but while reading spirit cloth and refreshing my mind about Gees Bend quilts and Boro styles I realized my mind was in a similar space way back when.

This is the back. I think I will figure a way to finish this. The next item I found was a piece using the Fortuny trim I featured in an earlier post.

I think I intended this for a pillow, but now I think I will use it as fabric to make a summer bag. The other pieces used were all vintage trims and ribbons.
I like this very much too. It would look lovely on.
oh hey, great, love the vest!
I tried something like this about two years ago. Yours is much better than mine.
I think my biggest problem was the denim jacket I was trying to revamp didn’t fit me as well as it should have.
Love the vest! Denim is such a perfect foil for hand made and unusual textiles.
I have a denim frock coat that I’m going to treat in a very similar manner, using indigo dyed shibori work I’ve done at college, demobilization ties, and some African narrow loom fabric. I could do it on my own but will take it to a ten weekeco-textiles class as my project. It will be a heavy coat, but fun.
